Irrigation Tunnel Colapse about one and a half miles south of Fort Laramie.
8/1/2019 – The tunnel repair has begun with crews drilling into the tunnel ceiling, filling the holes with expanding grout. Ribs/support structures are then placed inside the tunnel walls to secure, stabilize and allow workers to continue inside the tunnel safely. This process will continue until the crew reaches the collapsed area. At posting the crew has gone around 500 feet into the tunnel.
Above the tunnel, excavators are digging, clearing and securing loose dirt from the within the sinkhole for additional safety.
Emergency crews prepped the site for helicopter landings and emergency services should any accidents occur due remote location. Work continues day and night. Updates continue…follow them here.
